What are Cookies?
A 'cookie' is a small text file that can be placed on your computer, mobile or other device, when browsing a website. A cookie can contain information about your IP address, your device, or the online activity of a person who uses that device. We use session cookies and persistent cookies on our websites.
Session cookies are used to remember choices made during the booking process or when completing web forms, giving you a more seamless online experience. Session cookies are deleted automatically when you leave a website or close your browser.
Persistent cookies identify returning customers remembering their preferences and past activity. These cookies also help us understand browsing behaviour across our websites. This helps us customise content to give you a more relevant experience based on your interests.
Persistent cookies are stored on the user's computer or device and are not deleted when the browser is closed - these cookies must be 'manually' deleted if you want to remove them.
First and third-party Cookies
We may set cookies (first party cookies) on our web pages and we may also allow third parties to host cookies on our web pages (third party cookies) for reasons identified below.
The cookies used by Skyline are categorised into four groups:
- Strictly Necessary cookies: These cookies are here to provide technical capabilities, necessary to enable certain features of our websites to operate. These cookies help facilitate online purchases and transactions. If these cookies are blocked or disabled, some functions will not be available to you. Generally, these are session cookies that expire when you close your browser.
- Performance cookies: These cookies are used to obtain statistics about the number of visitors to our websites and how visitors interact with the site. This information is aggregated and is not used to identify individuals. These cookies are only used to improve how the website works. These can be session or persistent cookies.
- Functional cookies: As the name suggests, these cookies are used to improve the functionality of our websites. It helps identify repeat visitors and remembers their preferences. If you leave mid-way through making a booking with us, these cookies will remember where you were at the next time you visit (unless the products you chose were no longer available or you have cleared you history / cache). These are persistent cookies.
- Advertising / targeting cookies: These cookies are used to recognise your online interests, activity and browsing habits to provide targeted advertising. These can be used to track links clicked on our websites, other websites, social media platforms, and our direct marketing material. These are predominantly persistent cookies.
We may combine this data with other personal information that we have collected about you to help us create a user profile. This helps us present you with more relevant content that is in line with your interests.
These cookies may be placed on our websites by us or by authorised and trusted third parties. While these third parties are primarily collecting this information on our behalf, some of these third parties may also use the information which is collected for their legitimate business interests, including to improve their own services, and to maintain the security of their systems.
Where third parties are based outside of New Zealand, our agreements with such third parties include appropriate safeguards in respect of your personal information, as they include standard data protection clauses. If you would like further information regarding our agreements with these third-party providers, please contact us.

'Do Not Track' browser signals
Some web browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal that indicates your cross-site user tracking preferences.
Our websites do not recognise 'Do Not Track' signals, however you can block cookies using the settings in your internet browser. Find out how to do this in the section below.
At this time, some of our websites provide the option to clear your cookies. This method is not 100% reliable, and certain cookies may reset themselves over time. If you wish to remove cookies we recommend that you set your browser to “remove” or “reject browser cookies” before using our websites. Certain features of our websites may not function properly without the aid of cookies.
Controlling Cookies on your devices
Use the ‘Help’ menu on your internet browser to learn how to manage your cookie preferences. This will show you how to block all or some cookies from being downloaded and stored on your device.
